At the 48th World Economic Forum in Davos (February 2019), it was announced that humanity is on the threshold of the fourth industrial revolution. It began at the turn of the millennium and has its foundation in the digital revolution. Its main features are mobile Internet, miniature production devices, artificial intelligence and self-learning machines. 

Our task is to prepare the new generation for the clever and advantageous use of information digital technologies. Otherwise, our youth will reside on the sidelines of life and of civilization. And the education reform, quality education without the implementation of ICT and IT education is unthinkable. Thanks to ICT, education becomes available and accesible anywhere, anytime and for all. 

The President of the Kyrgyz Republic S.Jeenbekov declared 2019 as a Year of regional development and digitilization in our country, a development that signals the active introduction of ICT into the education system. The responsibility of teachers is to prepare the citizens of the country for life and to train them as skilled users of digital technologies and services. These citizens will then be able to build a country with a developed information society based on innovative knowledge and on an effective, transparent system of government without corruption. 

Within the framework of the first day of the Festival of Education, a round table discoussion on „Information and Communication Technologies in Education“ will be held on April 13, 2019. This installment aims to promote ICT and IT technologies in educational institutions across modern Kyrgyzstan and to share experience, knowledge and optimal practices amongst representatives of the state sector, education community and experts in the field of ICT development in education. The events of the Festival will play a part in contributing to the achievement of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. 

The event will be attended by school principals, representatives of the Education Administration of the Bishkek City Hall, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, representatives of universities, lyceums, colleges, educational and expert organizations in the field of information technology, the National Institute for Personnel Retraining (RIPE) ), the Kyrgyz Academy of Education, the Kyrgyz Association of Informatics, representatives of the Government IT department and international experts. 

The Round table discussion have been organized by the International Public Foundation “Roza Otunbayeva Initiative” and the IT Academy.
